The School Day attracts hundreds of school children and their teachers for an educational trip like no other. Each group is given a health and safety briefing before they explore the site. Groups can attend a short history lesson on site, followed by questions and answers. Re-enactor groups welcome questions from the children and are happy to offer demonstrations. Children can also view many of the WWII aircraft as they come in to land, especially for this occasion. Children can also get inside some of the static aircraft and military vehicles which offer ample photo opportunities and gives each child a great and unforgettable experience.
We encourage children and their teachers to dress up in 1940’s style to help recreate the atmosphere. There will be a prize for the Most Authentic Dressed Child and Teacher!
