Supermarine Spitfire MK Vc (G-IBSY)
On 11th September 1942 Spitfire MK Vc EE602 was built by Westland in Yeovil, Somerset under contract number B124305/40. When built, EE602 was fitted with the universal ‘C’ wing configuration. This allowed it to be fitted either with 8 machine guns, 4 20mm canons or a mix of 4 .303 machine guns and two 20mm canons. This aircraft had the mix of machine guns and cannons. It was fitted with a Rolls Royce Merlin 46 engine. This produced 1,415 bhp at 3,000 rpm and +16 ib/sq. in. boost at 14.000 ft.

Lockheed 12A Electra G-AFTL
Said to be one of the world’s most historic photo-reconnaissance aircraft still in existence today, Lockheed 12A Electra Junior G-AFTL completed its first post restoration flight from Sywell Aerodrome in Northamptonshire in the hands of Pete Kynsey on March 27, 2023. Two civil Lockheed 12s ordered by British Airways Ltd. were actually intended for covert military reconnaissance flights. Sidney Cotton modified these aircraft for aerial photography and in civilian guise, overflew and surreptitiously photographed many German and Italian military installations during the months preceding World War II

REPUBLIC P-47D THUNDERBOLT ‘NELLIE B’

The largest and heaviest single-seater piston-engine fighter in history, and the most numerous American fighter ever produced, the ‘Jug’ was a hugely successful high altitude escort and a formidable ground attack aircraft.

‘Nellie’ was built in 1945 at Republic’s Evansville factory in Indiana. Serialled 45-49192 the aircraft was built originally as a P-47D-40-RA. Detail of its service with the USAAF is not known, although it did serve with the Air Training Command during the last few months of the War, and was eventually stored at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma with the Air Material Command.

This P-47D wears the code “F4” identifying character “J”. The squadron markings have a distinctive red checkerboard nose with red nose band and red rudder. It was restored to full operational status at Hensley Field in Texas 1952, after the Rio Pact had been signed by the USA and was assigned to the Military Assistance Program in September of that year
