The Magic Flute, first performed in 1791, remains one of Mozart’s most beloved operas, blending fantasy, humour and profound themes. The story follows Prince Tamino, who is sent by the Queen of the Night to rescue her daughter Pamina from the priest Sarastro, only to discover that appearances are deceptive and Sarastro may not be the villain he seems. The Royal Opera House celebrates the 400th performance of the work on its stage with the triumphant return of David McVicar’s beloved production with grand sets, imaginative costumes and striking puppetry, creating a vivid fairy-tale world.
The Magic Flute offers spectacular staging, memorable music, and a magical story that balances comedy, romance and drama—making it entertaining and accessible for both opera newcomers and seasoned audiences. 🎭
