Wingates Gallery set to hold live painting event with Ben Goymour in Leicester

Wingates Gallery in Leicester will host a live painting event with artist Ben Goymour on Saturday 7 May.
A military veteran of the Afghan war, Ben is now a professional artist whose exceptional seascapes and animal paintings have become highly sought-after.

Ben will demonstrate the techniques he uses in his wildlife paintings during the live session at the gallery in Loseby Lane. He will talk through his methods as he paints, and will also take questions, while live streaming the event on his social channels.

Andrew Cartwright, one of Wingates Gallery’s owners, said: “This live painting event will mark the first event held at our Leicester gallery since it opened in 2019. We are excited to host this event to showcase the fine work on display in the gallery, and to offer our customers a unique perspective into the processes involved in Ben’s work.
“This event is a rare opportunity for our customers to meet one of our most well-regarded artists in person, and to speak to Ben about his art, his techniques, and his journey into the world of art, in a relaxed environment.”
Ben, who lives in Wittering, near Stamford in Lincolnshire, began painting in 2017. He had previously been in the Army after leaving school at 16, serving six months in Afghanistan with 29 Commando Regiment as a Bombardier.
Ben said: “This live event is intended for anyone to enjoy, no matter their knowledge of art.
“Wingates Gallery’s philosophy is about making art accessible to all. As an artist, I believe this presents a compelling proposition. I’m passionate about what I do and feel there should be no exclusivity in art.
“We hope to welcome people who have never visited a gallery before, as well as art enthusiasts, and I look forward to chatting to them as I paint.”

Pieces from Ben’s wildlife and seascape collections will be available to view on the day.

The event on Saturday 7 May will take place from midday to 4pm. There is no entry price and no need to book.
