From the Harborough district council website:

Shoppers are being encouraged to visit the Harborough district and make use of free parking during the December weekends in the lead up to Christmas.

The Harborough District Council initiative, which will see all council-owned car parks free of charge on the four Saturdays leading up to Christmas Day, aims to attract more people into the district during the festive shopping period.

The free parking will start on Saturday 3 December 2016 – the date of the national Small Business Saturday campaign which encourages people to shop locally and use independent retailers.

The free parking will apply on:

  • Saturday 3 December 2016
  • Saturday 10 December 2016
  • Saturday 17 December 2016
  • Saturday 24 December 2016

It is free to park in council-owned car parks in the Harborough district on Sundays.

Leader of Harborough District Council, Councillor Blake Pain, said: “We have supported free parking on weekends in the lead up to Christmas for several years now and it has always been very popular with businesses and visitors. With its mix of independent and national retailers, and fantastic seasonal events, Harborough district is a great place to visit for some Christmas shopping and festive fun.”

Although parking will be free of charge on the above days, normal terms and conditions of the car park will apply.
