Market Harborough is the birthplace of Joules clothing, one of the UK’s successful premium lifestyle brands, which is now listed on the UK stock exchange.

Since the mid 1800s, Harborough has had its roots firmly set in its historical heritage of clothing. A company known as Symington’s grew to become a successful global business, starting out as a tailors, hatters, woollen drapers, and then branching out with their famous; corsets, liberty bodices, swimwear, and underwear ranges, and becoming a major employer in the area.

The recently refurbished historical Symington’s building, which started life as a corsetry factory, is now home to the Museum, Library, Council offices, a cafe, Ice cream parlour and retail outlets.

The range of clothing shops has evolved into an eclectic mix of mainstream high street chains and independent boutiques and businesses, attracting customers from all over the region.
