Canvas Cafe

The Canvas Cafe is all about celebrating and serving great local food and drink in a unique setting. We love to bring people together to share a mini countryside adventure over a meal or coffee. Our cafe is housed in a beautiful big marquee on the wonderful Waterloo Cottage Farm (where you’ll also find our glamping site – Country Bumpkin Yurts). The cafe is fun, different, and super tasty.

Lara and I began our journey to set up the first half of our business – Country Bumpkin Yurts – back in 2016. We left the rat race and put into motion our plans for working in The Great Outdoors. With 3 delightful yurts and a woodburning hot tub, the glamping element of the business was born. In June 2017 we started welcoming guests to their countryside retreats. Since then, we have been honoured to see so many people enjoying time with their loved ones whilst taking in the countryside. Now it’s time to enjoy The Canvas Cafe too.

The food & drink
Our passion for the area has born a commitment to use great local producers and suppliers. This reduces our food miles and enables us to team up with some wonderful local businesses. Our menu is developed using seasonal, organic, and free-range food. Just on our doorstep (literally) is the Waterloo Cottage Farm Shop, which provides meat from naturally reared, pasture-fed and happy animals. There is also a thriving community garden on site. Imagine eating a soup made from the vegetables picked that morning from just 10 metres away – talk about fresh!

The location
You can find us on Waterloo Cottage Farm along the Leicestershire, Northamptonshire border, just outside Market Harborough. It is a beautiful place, surrounded by rolling hills, fields and farms. Coming to our cafe will feel like finding a secret gem hidden in the countryside. You can also get to us from the Brampton Valley Way so we make a great pit-stop for walkers and cyclists.

The values & vibe
We are a company and cafe that cares. We care about looking after nature, we care about people getting together, and we care about health. We are passionate about being eco-friendly and we love a creative upcycle project. You’ll see this all over our funky cafe; from the apple-crates displaying our loose leaf tea to the recycled bottle vases on the tables. You should see what we can do with a pallet! It is so important to take time out and spend it with friends and family, we want to help you do this. We also want to help you and your family to stay healthy. All of our cooking will use fresh and organic food, where we can, and we’ll also show you where you can get the same local food for yourselves (if you’re nice, we may even share our organic canvas cafe recipes).
